Bergen Kjøtt Landmark Satellite Bergen Kunsthall and Bergen Kjøtt join forces to create a live arena for autumn 2020 at Bergen Kjøtt. In response to restrictions for live programming in times of social distancing, the two organisations combine their resources until the end of the year to allow a safe programme of events produced in collaboration with a broad range of local promoters, musicians and organisations.

Throughout autumn 2020, part of Bergen Kunsthall’s live programme of concerts and events will take place as "Landmark Satellite" at Bergen Kjøtt at Skutevikstorget 1 in Sandviken.

The collaboration with Bergen Kjøtt is an opportunity for Bergen Kunsthall to support regular programme partners and cultural organisers as part of the Landmark programme in what continues to be a particularly challenging period for all. Bergen Kjøtt’s large venue provides the opportunity for events with higher visitor numbers at a safe distance, which will be equipped during the time of cooperation with Landmark's equipment and operated by its experienced technical team.

“Landmark is an incredibly important platform for cultural life in Bergen, with a diverse live programme presented and produced with a multiplicity of partners and initiatives, enabling us to expand our focus toward interdisciplinary connections of art with music, film, dance, theory and club culture. Above all, it’s a social space where people meet and new ideas are tested. In the current situation, we have had to rethink our approach to programming, and re-consider how we can continue to enable inclusive conversations and artistic experiences. The “Landmark Satellite” at Bergen Kjøtt is a very exciting moment in which we join forces to test possibilities for a continued live programme. We’re grateful to Bergen Kjøtt for the collaboration, as well as to all our partners who brought together such an exciting programme." - Axel Wieder, Director, Bergen Kunsthall

The programme begins on 10 September with a live concert from improvised music series Playdate.

The full Landmark programme at Bergen Kjøtt will be made available on and Landmark Satellite includes events organised by: Perfect Sounds Forever, Playdate, RAUS festivalen, Bergen Arkitektforening, golden jar and Fett.

The collaboration is part of a wider and ongoing programme of live events at Bergen Kjøtt from September 2020 in collaboration with EKKO Festival, Papillon and BEK - Bergen Centre for Electronic Arts.

«In this changing time, it feels more important than ever to prioritise collaboration in order to support each other, test new ways of working and mobilise cultural
activity in Bergen. The second floor of Bergen Kjøtt is large enough to host audiences at a safe distance, but we are currently lacking technical equipment to produce live events. Installing Landmark’s event system of Bergen Kunsthall means that we can together support not only the local partners of the Landmark programme, but other organisations, groups and cultural workers in Bergen who lack public space for their activities.

Through the programme collaborations this autumn, we can also test out different ways to use our public spaces, critically look at accessibility in the building and in our programming and plan for how to continue to support Bergen’s cultural communities now and in the long term.” - Eva Rowson, daglig leder, Bergen Kjøtt

“The recent pandemic has made us question the methods through which we reach our audience and has seen us investigate new means of dissemination, thus opening up to those who previously may not have had access to our institution. We now find it urgent that we open up beyond our own doors and share resources with other cultural institutions to create a platform for our program partners, and to share skills and ideas on how to open up as support systems for audiences and staff alike’’ - Scott Elliott, Curator, Live Program, Bergen Kunsthall

Bergen Kunsthall and Bergen Kjøtt take the developing situation with COVID-19 seriously. The public programme at Bergen Kjøtt is organised with the safety of our artists, workers and audiences as a priority and in adherence with the national health guidelines. As such, the programme may be subject to change.

Bergen Kjøtt is a non-profit production house, creative workplace and cultural centre located at Skutevikstorget 1, Bergen.

Bergen Kunsthall is a centre for contemporary art and presents exhibitions and events by international artists. Landmark is our vibrant strand of live events that includes concerts and club nights.
